On a quiet tree-lined street in Hove (the grander half of Brighton & Hove), the language school is located in a large, beautiful 4-storey Victorian house. From this ideal location, you can take advantage of all of the attractions of the city centre and the beach, which are both around 15 minutes away. You will benefit from an excellent environment for learning English, including 15 spacious and bright classrooms, an independent study room, a library, a computer room, Wi-Fi, a cafeteria, garden and terrace.

One of the major attractions of BSC Brighton is its Job Club, which can help you find local part-time work during your studies. This free service offers appointments every two weeks to give you the latest information on potential employers - usually bars, hotels, shops and promotional work. As well as information regarding British working laws and customs, you will enjoy personalised help with writing the perfect CV and cover letter.

Richtig toll!

Brighton is a beautiful city, next to the sea and the students are often happy to go out to the nightclubs, cinema, pubs, restaurants or fast food restaurants. One of the first things you should try is swimming in the sea! The school is good because there are different types of accommodation. If you are not sure, you can contact ESL and choose between a student house and a host family. It depends on you, whether you are really independent and like living with a lot of people of different nationalities. There are a lot of different nationalities in the school and you can speak with them only in English.

 BSC, Brighton
Duration: 4 weeks

In August I spent four weeks in Brighton to attend the CAE course. Brighton is a very nice city to live in and offers you a lot of different things. You can go clubbing, shopping, swimming, having fun with your new friends or take trips to various places in its surrounding area, for example to Seven Sisters. I chose British Study Centres because only there could I do the CAE course in the four weeks of august. It was absolutely the right decision! The atmosphere in the school is easy going and cosmopolitan, so it isn’t difficult at all to feel at home there, and the garden is a perfect place to spend your breaks in. The teachers did their very best to prepare us for the exam and we had a lot of fun. During the four weeks I stayed in a student house. I liked to live there because it was an interesting and exiting experience to have something to do with different people from various countries.

My stay in Brighton helped me to make a lot to make progress and to express myself in English. My two months of classes were intensive. One or two extra months would probably have been more conclusive at my level. Choosing a host family is a plus to make language as well as cultural progress. I ‘d like to thank ESL for this wonderful experience!

Host family
Living with a host family is an enriching experience from both a social and linguistic point of view. Staying in a single room, you will be provided half-board and enjoy the benefits of sharing experiences in total immersion with your local host. The families are often located in residential areas, around 40 minutes away from the school by bus.

Student house (from 18 years)
If you want more independence, this could be a good option. Staying in a single bedroom, meals are at your own expense, but the kitchen is at your disposal. The living room and bathroom are shared with the other flatmates. The student houses are between 10 and 20 minutes' walking distance from the school.

"Phoenix Hall" summer residence (from 18 years) (01.07-02.09.2018)
Located in the centre of Brighton near the iconic pier and 20 minutes from the language school by bus, the Phoenix Hall residence offers excellent value for the money. Staying in a single room fitted with a desk, chair and wardrobe, you will be able to prepare your meals in the modern, fully equipped kitchen together with the other international students. The private bathroom will offer you a certain amount of comfort and welcome privacy. A TV lounge, laundry facilities and Wi-Fi are also available. Each apartment accommodates up to 8 students so you will have plenty of chances to meet people!

With a wide range of outings and excursions during the week and at weekends, the school offers a complete social programme that makes it easy to meet people and practice your English. Various sports (including watersports) are available, and the long promenade along the seafront is perfect for jogging, cycling or roller skating. Brighton & Hove is one of the UK’s best cities for shopping, with the Lanes and North Laine being the most popular spots: both are also full of cafés, pubs and restaurants. If it all gets too much, take a break on the beach, have a dip in the sea and enjoy a barbecue in the evening!
