Many of Berlin’s main attractions are found nearby, as well as excellent public transport connections and a huge selection of cool shops, cafés, bars and restaurants. Students can also make use of a cafeteria: an ideal place to meet up with others and practise the language. With an average of 10 people per class, Alpadia Berlin is known for its family feel and personal atmosphere, where every student benefits from individual attention.

Alpadia, Berlin
Duration: 4 weeks

Hello! My name is Sergi Yagüe. I wanted to improve my German (because I am currently studying tourism) and I hence got in contact with the ESL agency in Barcelona. I went there to get some information and finally booked a one-month course and accommodation in Berlin.

My stay went perfectly: the school is right next to the apartment where I was staying and very close to downtown. I loved the shared apartment: my room was quite big and the owner was very nice. We often had meals together and I even took part in the family activities! I also enjoyed life with the other students living in the house.

The courses are very dynamic and entertaining and the teachers are nice. I highly recommend this school!

Alpadia, Berlin
Duration: 8 weeks of courses + 12 weeks of internship

I spent 5 action-packed months in Berlin. You never know what to expect here, the city is so full of surprises. When something unusual happens, like people dancing at the entrance of the metro with an improvised DJ, all you can say is: “this is Berlin!”
Alpadia is well located, close to many cosy restaurants, and the area is beautiful. Besides, the school offers many activities and outings every week, which allows you to meet more people and further discover the city. For me, Berlin means: crazy evenings, art galleries and black & white pictures taken from a photo booth… Viel Spass!

Alpadia, Berlin
Duration: 24 weeks

What can be best for studying German than to go to Berlin? It’s a very dynamic city and you can do many things at low cost. This trip is the best experience of my life. Living alone in a city where you don’t speak the language, and having to manage on your own (even if the school is here to help you in case of a problem), was a real adventure for me. The school provided us with very good basis in German but it is mostly by going out and meeting people that I made progress. Berlin has lost nothing of its alternative side and all the music and art fans will be more than satisfied with what it has to offer. An unforgettable trip!

Host family
With an excellent network of carefully selected host families, the school organises homestays for students. The hosts offer half-board or breakfast only and generally live around 30 minutes from the course centre (with a maximum distance of 60 minutes depending on the season). Staying in a single room, you will experience authentic Berlin life with locals, while enjoying some home comforts. Double room only available for students travelling together.

Shared apartment with local residents (WG, from 18 years)
Usually called a WG (Wohngemeinschaft), this is a very popular way for students and twenty-somethings to live in Germany. If you are looking for more independence, staying with one or several German people in the very heart of Berlin could be perfect for you. Sleeping in a single room, you will share the bathroom and kitchen with your flatmates. This kind of accommodation encourages you to discover Berlin on your own terms. Double room only available for students travelling together.

Shared apartment (Alpadia students only)
These fantastic apartments enjoy a central location either conveniently situated on the top floor of the school building or next to the Brandenburg Gate. The area is full of cafés, bars, restaurants and shops, and the apartments are within walking distance of several public transport options.
The apartments are to be shared by a maximum of five Alpadia students and are made up of three bedrooms (single and double), a shared bathroom, a kitchen and a dining area. Bedsheets and towels are provided, and there is free Wi-Fi in the common areas. In addition, laundry options are available on-site.

David Friedländer Haus residence (from 18 years old)
This comfortable, modern residence is located in Moabit, a central Berlin neighbourhood bordered by the Spree River and various canals near the Tiergarten. You’ll feel right at home in your en suite single room with its own kitchenette. In your room, you’ll find free bed sheets and towels, plus a desk, wardrobe, chair and lamp. The building boasts free Wi-Fi throughout, a rooftop terrace, covered bicycle parking, laundry facilities and a large common area with a TV and shared kitchen. School is just a 25-minute bus ride away!

Our Berlin language school organises outings and guided tours to help you discover one of Europe’s most exciting cities through its language and culture. In a city famous for art and music, something new awaits every day of the year, including exhibitions, concerts and legendary nightclubs. Nearby Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg are among the coolest urban districts in Europe at the moment, with superb street art and a creative energy in the air. The green spaces, parks and urban beaches are perfect for relaxing after class or meeting up with friends. Weekends offer the opportunity to discover cities such as Dresden, Leipzig or even Prague.
