I went to London twice (in 2015 and 2016) for a language stay. The first time was basically to improve my English level, as it was essential for my second year of Business and Economics, at university. I chose a 3-week standard course at the Wimbledon School of English in London and it was an unforgettable, extremely enriching experience, not only because I significantly improved my English skills, but also because I met so many people, discovered new cultures thanks to the amazing nationality mix and explored a new city. The second time, I decided to go back to the Wimbledon School of English, because the quality was very good and because I wanted to pass an exam to certify my English level… and I can say that I wasn’t disappointed, as my result was better than what I expected. I enjoyed the different activities organized by the school and the city of London. Thanks to these two experiences, I really wish to become a real Londoner!

I definitely made the right choice when I decided to study at Wimbledon School of English for a month. ESL gave me all the information I needed to in order to organise a tailor-made programme. In my case, my goal was to get the CAE certificate and attend 4 weeks of intensive course before sitting the test.

The teachers and the rest of the staff at the school were always ready to help out if you have questions of any kind. The level and the pace of the classes were high, but the teaching was dynamic, which made them more enjoyable. Besides the courses, the school offered a large variety of cultural and social activities, creating a very good atmosphere. It was a very enriching experience and was absolutely worth it.

As I need English to enter the Lausanne catering college, I decided to do a language stay. I chose the Wimbledon School of English because, even if it is a small town in a big city, I was looking for a place with fewer distractions. Indeed, I am preparing for the Advanced diploma and that takes a lot of personal work. I have lessons every day in the morning and twice a week in the afternoon. I still do sports and I went to a few excursions with the school as it offers attractive prices! I live in a shared apartment, we are 6 and we share 2 bathrooms. The good thing is that it only takes 15 minutes by bus to go to the school!

The Wimbledon school is perfect for me because I really did not want to end up in the city centre! I live in the Kings Lodge residence and it is located 10 minutes away from the school. I could never have had that luxury in the city centre! I chose to do an intensive course and to get an Advanced diploma because I would like to work in a bank in English. The town of Wimbledon remains dynamic, as you can find pubs and clubs. I totally recommend the Madame Tussaud museum in London!

Wimbledon School of English is, in my view, the best place for anyone who wants to improve their English skills. Teachers are competent and they are able to create a special relationship with the students – which is very important, as confidence building is an essential step in the learning process.

Overall, the school staff was very helpful and caring towards the students. London is an incredible city; I recommend it to anyone! It was an enriching experience – from a cultural, professional and, most of all, human point of you.

I was lucky to meet people from around the world, who made this trip unique. I went back home with lots of great memories.

London is a beautiful city where there are plenty of things to do, at any age. There are free museums and fabulous architectures, if you like this kind of things. People are nice but stressed, like in any other big city… But they are still very welcoming. I really like it here, I can see myself living here – maybe not in the centre, but south-west, where the school is, in Wimbledon. It’s calm and really nice. There are parks everywhere, so it’s lovely when it’s sunny!

It’s been a month already since I arrived at WSE. After different tests, I ended up in a class with people from Switzerland, Korea, Japan, Russia, Austria and Spain. Teachers help us preparing for the CAE. I live with a woman and her 21-years old daughter; they both made me feel very welcome and they help me improving my English skills. I really hope I will be able to find a job here and stay in the UK after this course.

My stay in London was unforgettable! For me, the goal of these three weeks was to perfect my language skills and it is much easier to follow the courses now – but I also met new friends from all over the world! I was very very warmly welcomed by the mum of my host family and I got along very well with her. My LTC was very competent and was able to organise quickly this beautiful stay in London. I recommend everybody to do a language stay – every week invested is worth it!

I needed to improve my English for work, which is why I contacted ESL. The agency took care of finding the most suitable programme for my needs. I therefore went to London and attended a 6-week intensive course at the Wimbledon School of English. I stayed with an English host family. I felt like at home there and I could practise the language. The school’s teaching method and teachers were excellent and allowed me to understand the language much better and speak it more fluently. Not to mention the enrichment and experience related to getting to know another culture and other students from many other foreign countries.

It was, without any doubt, the best solution and it encouraged me to go back to London, where I now work and keep on learning the language. I can only recommend such an experience as it is unique and you learn a lot, on a personal as well as linguistic level.

I opted for the Wimbledon School of English because it enjoys a quiet location, not far from the centre of London.
The school is very professional and relies on excellent teachers who plan lively and fun lessons. I learnt a lot while I was there.
I chose the “superior” host family accommodation option with private bathroom, 10 minutes’ walk from the school. It is a great advantage to be able to walk to the school and I can only recommend this option.
If I had to take another language course, I would choose WSE again.

I went to London Wimbledon from February to June (5 months). The name of the school is "Wimbledon School of English". This school is great! Beautiful from the outside (old Victorian house) and modern inside, yet decorated in the English style. It has a beautiful garden and in the summer, it is pleasant to lie down on the grass and talk to your friends. And my friends, in this school, there are more than 30 nationalities, so you have contact with cultures, languages and faces from various countries. Quite frankly, I rapidly made new friends because everyone is so open-minded. In my host family, it was great, I was lucky to stay with a mother who had plenty of time to cook delicious meals for me! She was always attentive to my needs if I had a problem or simply wanted to talk. So, if you want to go abroad, hesitate no longer! Do it now, as it will change you forever, you will get stronger and more confident (that’s how I felt when I came back!)

"Who is tired of life, is tired of London”. At the time, I had already heard this sentence several times but I understand its true meaning only now. A city where there are so many things to discover and see. In addition to the traditional tourist attractions, London offers a wide variety of musicals, theatres, concerts and other shows like no other city in the world. The Wimbledon School of English, where I spent 13 weeks, was a great school. The teachers were well trained and able to convey the course content in a light way and to give us individual support. I made a lot of progress. Besides, I met people from the whole world, which allowed me to develop extraordinary friendships. It was the best period of my life and I am looking forward to going back to this city where nothing seems impossible. Thank you, ESL!

I like Wimbledon very much because it’s not as hectic as central London. Nevertheless you can find many things here like cafés, pubs, bars, cinemas, theatres and a big shopping centre. When you want to go to the city you can get there in about 20 minutes. I think the school is very good and the teachers are professional. When it’s good weather you can eat lunch in the lovely garden of the school. It’s really nice here.
