New Zealand is the perfect opposite country from Switzerland (on the planet) and I heard the landscape and beaches were amazing. When I arrived I felt very quickly well integrated and the atmosphere in the class was really nice. When I arrived in NZ I could not speak any English as I haven`t learnt at school. I started at Elementary level and I am now in Intermediate which is a good achievement for me. Now I feel more comfortable to speak in the city, ask things in shops and understand when local people talk to me. The teachers, they are amazing. They helped me to reach my target. I lived in Berlin before, so you can imagine that it was easy to adapt in such a small city as Auckland. I went to the Museum to discover about the Maori culture, I took the ferry a few times to visit Devonport, Waiheke Island. I think it is a nice city, the way of living is very nice and people are easy going and easy to approach. Now I am heading up North, in Waipu, for 2 weeks as I found a job as a technical carpenter, which is matching with my diploma and my work in Switzerland. It is so exciting to do this here in NZ as I will be able to put this down on my CV. After that I am planning on buying a Campervan and travel around NZ for 2 weeks. Then I will head to Tasmania for a week and travel around Australia for a month, before heading back home in May as I have to go back to work at some stage.

I decided to come to Auckland because I heard that the people are very nice and kind. The landscapes are beautiful and this is a great country to travel around. I didn’t know so much about new Zealand but I learned a lot when I was here.During the weekends I didn’t stay at home . I usually went into the city to have drinks with friends. When the weather was good I went to the beach with friends and also travelled around the North Island. When I arrived in NZLC, my english wasn’t very good. I couldn’t really have an interesting conversation but now my English is more fluent. I improved a lot! The school is located in a good place in the city and the building is good too. There are a lot of different classes and the teachers have very good skills and are so helpful. The classmates are very nice. Local people are really helpful, nice and easy-going people. The best things I did in New Zealand are when I went to some natural hot pools. It was an amazing experience. For someone who wants to come to NZ for the first time, I would recommend to enjoy everything and try to speak only English! ESL was always available and they could answer all of my questions. My plans now are to travel around New Zealand and Australia before going back to Switzerland. When I go back home, I’m going to study. I will study social work at university.

I just want to thank you. I have been in New Zealand for 4 weeks and this Friday was my last school day at NZLC. I enjoy every day here. The school is beautiful, I was able to improve my English from intermediate to upper intermediate and even advanced level! The host family you chose for me is certainly the best ever! I am very happy to have booked my stay through you. I am going to stay an extra 3-month in Auckland as from tomorrow on I have a landscape gardener job! Then I have three months left to travel… thanks a lot for your help! If ESL had not been as friendly and helpful during the first contact, who knows where I would be now? ☺Friendly greetings from New Zealand!

The past 5 weeks in Auckland have been an unforgettable experience, during which I managed to improve my English significantly and communicate with other people in a more fluent and easy way.

Teachers are competent and always very approachable, especially in case of problems. I felt so comfortable that sometimes I forgot I was at school. The school is well located and offers many different activities after class. I met students from different countries and cultures; we had fun together and today I can call them my friends.

New Zealand is perfect for people who are passionate about sports (rugby, football, basketball…) and nature. I had the chance to admire amazing landscapes! I lived close to the city centre, in a lovely family that took the time to show me their country and their lifestyle. I highly recommend this destination!

I have wanted to study English in an English speaking country for years. In fact, I think immersion is the best way to learn a foreign language. I chose Auckland because I have been to New Zealand several times on holiday and I love this country. Firstly, there are always a lot of exciting and fun things to see. New Zealand is famous for its fantastic scenery and you can discover this country every weekend. Also, Auckland is a cosmopolitan city surrounded by water and volcanoes. Its harbour is beautiful; New Zealanders are very nice and relaxed. I also enjoyed my school NZLC located in Auckland near the harbour – what a beautiful place! I have improved my English lots. The courses were very interesting and the teachers are very helpful. I definitely recommend this school – it was a great experience for me!
