STM Awards 2014

For the 3rd year, ESL – Language studies abroad was voted Europe’s Star Agency at the STM Awards 2014, which took place on 30th August 2014. This award recognises excellent services provided by professionals in the study abroad industry. This is the result of a poll carried out by British publisher Hothouse Media. Several thousand accredited language schools from all over the world were asked for their opinion and recognised that ESL is still one of the best agencies in Europe. We are very happy about our long-standing relationships with our partner schools and will meet you next year for the award ceremony.

ESL, winner in 2010, 2011 and... 2014!

After being voted Europe’s STAR Agency in 2010 and 2011, this vote strengthens ESL’s position as one of the industry leaders. Like an Oscar for the language travel industry, this award recognises the quality work of ESL’s staff.
“For nearly 2 decades, we have been committed to providing the best services to both our partner schools and the people who travel with us. This award, for the third time, is a recognition of our long-standing and enduring work and we are very honoured to have won it”, Head of Products & Partnerships Krister Weidenhielm declared with delight.

TESTIMONIALS

I chose Freiburg as I wished to stay in a small town close to Switzerland. From Freiburg, it is easy to get backhome if needed. I have also heard that Freiburg is a nice and vivid city. Looking back I can say that I’m happy with my choose. The enrolment went quiet easy. I had a contact person at the agency who knew an answer to all my questions. I received fast answers and we mostly talked over the phone. I like Freiburg and it was what I wished for. The classes are good to get used to the language and to repeat some things. It is great that classes are held in German only – this is how you learn most vocabulary. It is also interesting and challenging to talk to students in German, even if they do have the same mother tongue. It’s a great feeling if it’s working! In the 2 weeks I spent in Freiburg I have learnt a lot. I enjoyed the activities as well. I went to Mundenhof and Heidelberg. It was nice to visit another town. The movie night was also good to make use of German. This afternoon I will also go to the activity “Bouldern”. Living in the host family was a great experience. I wanted to stay in a family with children and no other students which was very good. The family lives in a quiet location, lika a small village. That was nice. I have talked a lot with the family, also with the children. If I do have the time, I would possibly take another trip to Freiburg again.

New Zealand is the perfect opposite country from Switzerland (on the planet) and I heard the landscape and beaches were amazing. When I arrived I felt very quickly well integrated and the atmosphere in the class was really nice. When I arrived in NZ I could not speak any English as I haven`t learnt at school. I started at Elementary level and I am now in Intermediate which is a good achievement for me. Now I feel more comfortable to speak in the city, ask things in shops and understand when local people talk to me. The teachers, they are amazing. They helped me to reach my target. I lived in Berlin before, so you can imagine that it was easy to adapt in such a small city as Auckland. I went to the Museum to discover about the Maori culture, I took the ferry a few times to visit Devonport, Waiheke Island. I think it is a nice city, the way of living is very nice and people are easy going and easy to approach. Now I am heading up North, in Waipu, for 2 weeks as I found a job as a technical carpenter, which is matching with my diploma and my work in Switzerland. It is so exciting to do this here in NZ as I will be able to put this down on my CV. After that I am planning on buying a Campervan and travel around NZ for 2 weeks. Then I will head to Tasmania for a week and travel around Australia for a month, before heading back home in May as I have to go back to work at some stage.

It’s a beautiful town with a lot of friendly people. Not too dangerous, this town is crowded of students and it’s really nice to live here ! An advice to give : be careful of the seagulls ! The school is really good, all the people who work there are really nice. The courses are interesting and I learned a lot ! Thank you British Study Centres ! I also met a lot of great students from different countries and I intend to keep in touch with them ! I think it’s not enough to come here less than 3 months ; in 2-3 weeks or 1 month, you can’t learn a lot… I think it’s an amazing experience of life, and this allows to meet new people, to learn a language that most of the world knows. Brighton is a town of students and I hope it will stay like this !
