The Cambridge TESOL Diploma allows you to develop the language knowledge and teaching skills required for teaching English to students of all ages.

The programme takes place over a total of 8 weeks and prepares candidates for the Cambridge Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT). It is composed of 2 different 4-week training courses, taking place one after the other: the TESOL-TKT Certificate and the TKT-Young Learners Certificate (see information below). At the end of the programme, candidates have the option to take the Cambridge University TKT exam and the TKT-Young Learners exam.

TESOL-TKT Certificate
Combining theory and practice, the course aims to teach candidates the fundamentals of TESOL in order to prepare them for the Cambridge Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT). During the program, students will have the opportunity to develop their teaching skills by leading ESL activities, observing ESL classes and through peer teaching.

The program includes 3 modules:
Module 1: describing language and language skills, background and giving instructions
Module 2: planning and preparing lessons and selecting and using resources and materials
Module 3: managing the teaching and learning process and the classroom

Host family
Canadian families are known for their warm welcome and for making their guests feel right at home. Host families live in the residential areas of Vancouver, which offers a certain quality of life, but which means having to use public transport to get to the school.

Guests stay in single rooms and have half board or full board provided. This option is ideal for immersing yourself in the Canadian culture and for practising English in everyday situations. It's also the opportunity to make friends for life in Canada. For more flexibility, it is also possible to book accommodation without meals included. In this case, you can still use the family's kitchen.

GEC Viva Tower residence (for ages over 19)
Apart from a beautiful view over the city and the Pacific Ocean, this residence offers self-catering apartments with twin or single rooms. It's just a 15-minute walk from the school and steps away from Davie Street, where you’ll find plenty of bars and restaurants. Each apartment has 2 bathrooms, a living room and a kitchen, as well as free Wi-Fi throughout the building. Towels and bed linen are included, there are free laundry facilities and the common areas are cleaned once per week. The residence also has a gym and a sauna for you to relax during your free time.

APT Living residence (for ages over 19)
Enjoy all the perks of this modern and stylish residence, located 20 minutes from the campus by public transport. You’ll stay in an ensuite, single bedroom with kitchenette, convertible futon bed and free bed linen. The residence features multiple common areas, such as the lounge, the fitness room, the study room, the BBQ area, the garden, the swimming pool and the sauna. You’ll be surrounded by cool shops and cosy cafés, and you’ll be well connected to the main city hotspots. The laundry facilities are coin operated and the Wi-Fi is free.

Make the most of Vancouver’s enticing mix of vibrant city and astonishing countryside. ILSC’s activity program encourages you to discover the city that is sometimes called “the Hawaii of Canada”. But this is “Hawaii Plus”... the nearby mountains offer superb skiing and snowboarding opportunities in the winter months and hiking during the summer. Mountain bike along the wooded trails of Stanley Park or simply breath in the fresh air of British Columbia.

For a change of scenery and to sample world- famous coffee, Seattle is just a couple of hours away. But there is so much to enjoy in and around Vancouver that you may not even find the time...
