We offer the opportunity to learn the craft of teaching Italian as a foreign language in the heart of the Italian-speaking world: Rome. The hustling, bustling heart of the Roman Empire is as alluring today as ever, with glorious sunshine from April until October, delicious cuisine and a flirtatious look in its eye.
Once qualified, you can expect to find teaching work within Italy or overseas. Particularly in Northern Europe and North America, qualified Italian teachers are in short supply and the best jobs go to qualified teachers.
Combine an ITALS qualification with an active holiday in Italy
There is no substitute for immersing yourself in Italian culture. Read Italian newspapers, hear Italian songs and join in the banter in an Italian bar... all of it will benefit you and your Italian teaching skills. With our partner centre in Rome, you can enjoy a rich and diverse cultural calendar in one of the world’s great cities.
Who are Italian teacher training courses for?
You do not have to be a native speaker to complete a teacher training qualification and courses are available if you have an upper intermediate level of Italian (B2 on the Common European Framework of Reference) or higher. Italian teaching courses for non-native speakers include more Italian language training, to help participants improve their Italian skills as well as their teaching skills.
