Sitting on Ibagué's most beloved pedestrian avenue, directly opposite the Metropolitan Cathedral and steps from the flowering trees of Plaza de Bolívar, Nueva Lengua couldn't be better placed. Street musicians, local traders, historic parks, and the city's famous music conservatory are all within easy walking distance, immersing students in everyday Colombian life from day one. The school occupies a characterful three-storey building with balconies overlooking the cathedral and plaza below. Inside, four classrooms, a lounge, cafeteria, patio, free Wi-Fi, and a rooftop terrace give students everything they need to study, socialise, and soak up the city. Groups are capped at eight students, creating a focused environment where every student gets personalised treatment.

The school's activities programme runs Monday to Friday, and it's packed: think cooking traditional Colombian dishes, learning to play Tejo, catching a live concert at the historic Tolima Conservatory, and exploring orchid trails teeming with birdlife just minutes from the city centre. For something more adventurous, a ride in a traditional Jeep takes you up to the breathtaking La Plata Waterfall, all 490 metres of it, or down into the spectacular Combeima Canyon. In the evenings, hop aboard a Chiva Rumbera and let the music carry you through the city's vibrant streets. With the Botanical Garden, the Museo Musical Mundo Sonoro, and the Andes on your doorstep, there's always somewhere new to explore.
