The teachers were a 10. They were all really nice and friendly, they learned your name after just one class with them and they developed a close relationship with us. They helped and advised you with the day-to-day in France. I only have good things to say about everyone who taught me.

The classes were fun and entertaining and above all, very intensive. We covered a ton of material, and now, comparing it to a Spanish academy, I value it so much more. I think it was the equivalent of a year-long intensive course in Spain, among other reasons because there when you go out, you have to practise everything you’ve been learning, so you could better consolidate your knowledge.

The school was very dynamic. Every day they organised activities and excursions where besides practising your French, you could get to know the region’s customs and places and socialise with students from all over the world: England, Japan, New Zealand, Canada, etc. We liked it so much that we lengthened our stay by a week.

The city was young and very culturally attractive. Just like in the rest of the region, it has plenty of historical monuments to visit. If you like history, this is the perfect place. The same goes for nature lovers: the beach and mountains are both just a stone’s throw away. There’s only one but: don’t bring your car because it’s very expensive to park and parking on the street is impossible. Also, the restaurants in the city centre are pretty expensive, and it’s very hot in August.

Communication with ESL was great. They answered all our questions, advised us and got in touch with us whenever we needed until we decided upon a destination.

Without a doubt, I would do it all over again.

I’m thrilled with the short but intense language stay I had in Montpellier.

The ESL organisation helped me and gave me great advice.

The Institut Européen de Français (IEF), perfectly located right in the centre of Montpellier, gives you a warm welcome and offers lots of cultural and touristic activities that allow you to interact with the city and other people.

My host family and the people in general were very friendly.

The Mediterranean environment and the overwhelming amount of culture in Montpellier and its surroundings make for an unforgettable stay while you’re learning French.

I did a 2-week language stay at the Institut Européen de Français (IEF) in Montpellier. It was a highly satisfying experience both on an educational and personal level.

I took a general French course in which I would highlight both the course content as well as the class dynamic, since in a group of 8, you can actively participate and improve your oral expression.

Likewise with the optional atéliers, I improved my pronunciation and learned some really useful expressions in French. On the other hand, through the activities and excursions that the language school organises, I discovered beautiful cities and amazing travel companions.

And all of this… with the possibility of going to the beach!

I recommend this school in particular and Montpellier as a city 100%.

I completed an 8-week stay in Montpellier to learn French and the experience with ESL and the Institut Européen de Français was highly positive. They were very professional both in terms of accommodation and teaching. Montpellier is a safe, fun and dynamic city, with lots of free cultural events. I don’t like to give advice, but I will give you a couple of suggestions… one: take advantage of your time in class, and two: speak French the entire time rather than getting into a little group and speaking your native language.

Learning French at the Institut Européen de Français was a great experience. I refreshed my French and got ready for my third Erasmus term. Classes are interactive and practical. Life in Montpellier is quiet, but – as it’s a student town – there is always something to do.

My name is Fabián and I came to Montpellier to learn French. I am very happy with the school (IEF): I am learning the language pretty fast and teachers are very professional. I met many people from all over the world; there is a good nationality mix! The school is in the heart of Montpellier: public transports are very convenient and the surroundings are full of bars and restaurants where I can have lunch. Montpellier offers many hotspots, such as the Arc de Triomphe, Place de l’Europe, the Botanical Gardens, Place de la Comédie, the historical centre and the mountain of Saint-Loup. I highly recommend visiting all these places! The city is full of tourists and young people – it’s been an unforgettable experience so far!

MONTPELLIER! What can I say about my stay in this big town? I have only good memories of it. The day I arrived and met my host family, who welcomed me like a member of family. The people from throughout the world that I met during the course, and all of the beautiful friendships that grew in such a short time. The classes in the mornings, which were never boring, and the brilliant teachers. The lunches with friends and the busy afternoons: sightseeing in Montpelier, beach, shopping, cinema, exploring the surrounding villages... and spending the evenings with friends, enjoying the nice city atmosphere with people from all over the world! Every Friday in summer, the city fills with people, who drink local wine and eat local specialties. It was an amazing experience which I hope to repeat. Awesome memories and friendships. A wonderful French-learning summer!
