Taronja, Valencia
Duration: 4 weeks

Thanks to ESL, I spent a month in Valencia last summer and I will never forget this experience. The city is fantastic, perfect for beach and party lovers, but also a superb destination on a cultural level. There is so much to see and visit that the month I spent there seemed almost too short to me. I really felt comfortable at the Taronja school: it is located right in the town centre and the young and friendly teachers use their great creativity to teach the language in a fun way. I arrived with a basic knowledge of Spanish and achieved a level B2 at the end of my stay. The school organises activities almost every evening, including tapas or paella parties, movie nights, flamenco and beach parties, and excursions at the end of the week. These were perfect opportunities to get to know the other students from the school, who came from all over the world, and have a great time together. I also felt very comfortable with my host family; I don’t have anything to complain about. They were very nice and available; the food was excellent too. You just need to adapt to Spanish meal times, which are a bit late! I’ve kept excellent relationships with them, to the point of going back to visit them in the following months and I hope I can go back there again!

My stay in Valencia was great! As for the school, the very original setting it offers but also by the quality of its teachers as well as the excellent atmosphere charmed me. The work methods are well designed, all the teachers are competent and listen to the students. Also, the activities offered by the school make the exchange with the other international students easier and the proximity of the teachers allow us to know the whole teaching staff but also the whole school staff as well as getting familiar with what brings us all together: the language. The weekend excursions are magical for they allow us to visit other Spanish cities. Moreover, the school’s director activity consisting in preparing a typical recipe of the country every week is enriching.

As for the city, I was enthralled by the subtle mix of antique aspect of the city center, so sumptuous, (especially at night) and the modern aspect of the city of arts and sciences as well as its harbor and its beach (not far from the school, very fast by metro). Thanks to the alchemy between these two facets, there are a lot of things to visit and discover. During the summer, Valencia is only sun and heat; the big plus of this city is that it has its own beach, which allows to relax at any time of the day. I recommend the city of Valencia to all, to be immersed in the Spanish culture and of course the Taronja school to learn the language. This will remain an unforgettable stay for me!! I also wanted to thank you once again for organizing my stay as well as your precious advice concerning my final choices.
