My 4 weeks at the Kudan Institute in Tokyo were fantastic. The teachers are very dedicated to their work, and my host family helped me as much as the school to achieve higher fluency when speaking. And with the amount of activities organised or promoted by the school, it’s easy to make friends and not get bored!

I’m so happy to have gone on this trip. Not only did I come back with really great memories of places I’d been to, but I was also able to learn a lot more about the Japanese language and culture than I expected, all thanks to the super friendly people I was with and the wonderful family that hosted me. Without a doubt, I would recommend this experience, and I hope to do it again when I have the chance.

Pack my stuff and go to study at the Kudan Institute, was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. I discovered Japan, its culture and its people in a unique and memorable way, largely thanks to the friendships and the opportunities that Kudan provided me. Additionally, I made impressive progress with my Japanese.

The city of Tokyo, and Japan in general, are really amazing. Here, you find many opportunities to have fun and discover an age-old culture. My school, the Kudan institute, is exceptional. It is easily reachable with public transport, especially by metro or train. The lessons are very effective and the teachers’ explanations are always clear. The teachers are very competent and choose appropriate learning materials so we can understand easily. My programme only lasted for 4 weeks but I can already read and write with hiragana and katakana. I also improved my grammar skills. I chose to stay with a host family instead of staying in a guesthouse, and I strongly recommend this option. My family was really nice to me; they took me to ASAKUSA, HARAJUKU, ODAIBA, KAMAKURA, etc. In this way, you get used to the language more quickly. Japanese people are great. They help you and do everything to ensure you have a nice stay. They are very polite. In short, I enjoyed my stay and strongly recommend you to go to Japan because it is a unique destination and Japanese is a beautiful language.

You hear so much about Tokyo that during the first week, as you discover the city on site, you are almost disappointed. But as time goes by, you discover everything that is hidden and that you can’t see at first sight – and then you wish you never had to go home. In addition, there is a great atmosphere in the classroom and studying Japanese for 4 hours a day helps you to increase your Japanese ability day after day. You would like to come back even before leaving! Tokyo has 30 million inhabitants, which naturally brings about some inconveniences. But I would like to renew this experience. For now, what I would prefer is to… extend my stay.

The Kudan Institute of Japanese Language and Culture is a very good school to learn Japanese and make rapid progress. I was able to go through a whole textbook within a month. The teachers are excellent and the courses are never boring. Kudan even offers Japanese courses for those who have no prior knowledge of Japanese and accept students from 16 years, which was perfect for me. The school is located close to Tokyo’s centre. Tokyo is a very interesting city for people of all ages and there is a lot to do. As far as I am concerned, I enjoyed the great diversity of the museums and places like Shibuya, Akihabara, Shinjuku and Asakusa, where you can go shopping and find whatever you’re looking for. I also liked the various gardens and green spaces around Tokyo.

For years my greatest dream has been to discover Japan. ESL gave me the opportunity to achieve this dream and even more! In addition to spending time listening to me and advising me, the ESL consultants answered all of my questions. Thus, I discovered that Japan is not a cold country, as many people think, but a wonderful country where smiling is a habit!

I decided to stay with a host family in order to get an insight into the culture. I can only recommend this option! The families are so welcoming and they are always ready to help you! It is also a great way to discover Japanese cooking! As my knowledge of English is pretty basic, the classes were difficult at first, I must admit. But thanks to the good-humoured teachers at the school, I am improving my Japanese skills every day!

To sum it up, it is a country into which you should not be afraid to immerse yourself!

Kudan Institute was a really great experience for me. The school is located in the center of Tokyo and there are several metro stations close by. I like the atmosphere of the school and the staff and the teachers are funny and treat us really well. If you have any problems, they don’t hesitate to help you during class and the teachers are fun and dynamic so you almost never get bored. Your Japanese level will definitely increase very quickly. That’s why I chose to study Japanese at Kudan Institute. I’ve really enjoyed my time there and made a lot of good friends from all over the world, so you will not regret it!

This language study trip was a complete change of scenery, exactly what I was looking for. Tokyo is a fascinating city where you discover something new every day. Without having any basis in Japanese when I left..I really headed into the unknown! I wasn't disappointed. The classes were interesting and adapted to all levels. The school was in a good location and the host family was very welcoming. If you really want to learn the language, you would need to stay for a minimum of 3 months, but I advise, above all, to go there without any hesitation, whatever the duration of your stay!
