I spent four fantastic weeks as a student at Academia Hispanica Cordoba. I live in Switzerland and Spanish is my second language in my degree: translation and multilingual communication. I wanted to make the most of my vacation to improve my Spanish and learn more about the Spanish culture. For me, learning a language also means learning the culture and customs and lifestyle. During my stay in Córdoba, I lived with Mari Carmen and his son Rodrigo. They are very friendly and hospitable and welcomed me with open arms. From the first day I was very comfortable and I felt at home. Mari Carmen always made delicious dishes typical of Andalusia. Thanks to Mari Carmen and Rodrigo I had the opportunity to learn life and Andalusian culture authentically.
I loved being a student at IH Cordoba, Academia Hispanica. All teachers and employees of the school were very kind and were always willing to help and provide information, for example about cultural offers in Cordoba. I learned a lot in Spanish classes, we talked about interesting topics such as society, art, philosophy and did different activities each day. In my free time, we went to the summer cinema (open-air cinema) and saw movies in the Andalusian Film Library. In Córdoba there are interesting festivals and cultural events, such as Guitar Festival Flamenco or flamenco clubs. To use the most of my time in Andalusia, I also went on excursions to Granada and Seville during the weekends. I love people from Cordoba because they are spontaneous and open, so it's very easy to meet people and make new friends. The stay has done much to expand my vision of Andalusian culture.
As I liked Andalucía so much, I decided to have my university exchange in Andalusia. I recently returned to Switzerland after spending five wonderful months as a student at the Faculty of Translation and Interpretation at the University of Granada. I have been for little time in Switzerland, but I miss Andalusia.
The meetings and friendships are what I value most in travel. Through these encounters and friendships, travel and stays abroad become precious and valuable memories. I want to thank my host family in Córdoba and all my teachers and employees of Academia Hispanica Cordoba. Thanks to them, I will always keep a good memory of my stay in Córdoba. A stay so unforgettable. It is a leap on an adventure in another country, another culture and another language.
