More than anything, I enjoyed my time in Torbay. It’s a kind of small town on the cost. I would said that it’s better than a big city… clearly there is fewer attractions or big shops but you need to jump inside the language. You just can’t find any French, german, spanish … etc speaker when you are out from the school. That’s Why I choose Torbay.
Oh ! I must talk about the school a little bit … I went there for improving my english before the EPFL and I wasn’t disappointed. I filled the gaps I had by practising all day my english and the lessons was really well given. I mean I had incredible teachers.
The school also offers execution, some are really worth others not, but all helps you to simply visit the area and jump deeper in Devon. Torbay is divided in three towns : Torquay for shopping and going out to disco, Paignton for enjoying your time and Brixham for visiting a traditional fishing town. Torbay is not far from London so you can easily plan a weekend.
I spent twelve weeks in two blocs and It’s was a great time, I tried the host family the first time. The second time I tried the residence, Hunter’s Lodge, and this one was just fantastic, like a family… we visited everything together, we cooked and shared meals, Now I’m invited to Brazil, Germany, South Korea, Saudi Arabia and most important to Swiss-German part.

My stay in Freiburg is really good. I really like the courses and the fact that we have different teachers during the week. Also the excursions that the school offers are really interesting! At the beginning it was difficult to get integrated in the class, since most of the students were already here and knew eachother. But then, when the new students come every week it is very easy, we always go talk to them, ask them where they are from and form a new group of friends! There are many French speakers here, so sometimes you are quite tempted to talk in French! Freiburg is a big city for me, since I come from a smaller town. But it´s perfect, there is everything we need and a lot of things to do! My host family is great, we have a good relationship. They are very nice and we do things together such as going for a walk or hiking. I was worried at the beginning that the food wouldn´t be good, but it´s really delicious and there is always a lot to eat!

I chose Freiburg as I wished to stay in a small town close to Switzerland. From Freiburg, it is easy to get backhome if needed. I have also heard that Freiburg is a nice and vivid city. Looking back I can say that I’m happy with my choose. The enrolment went quiet easy. I had a contact person at the agency who knew an answer to all my questions. I received fast answers and we mostly talked over the phone. I like Freiburg and it was what I wished for. The classes are good to get used to the language and to repeat some things. It is great that classes are held in German only – this is how you learn most vocabulary. It is also interesting and challenging to talk to students in German, even if they do have the same mother tongue. It’s a great feeling if it’s working! In the 2 weeks I spent in Freiburg I have learnt a lot. I enjoyed the activities as well. I went to Mundenhof and Heidelberg. It was nice to visit another town. The movie night was also good to make use of German. This afternoon I will also go to the activity “Bouldern”. Living in the host family was a great experience. I wanted to stay in a family with children and no other students which was very good. The family lives in a quiet location, lika a small village. That was nice. I have talked a lot with the family, also with the children. If I do have the time, I would possibly take another trip to Freiburg again.
