I took an intensive German course in Freiburg, and the experience couldn’t have been better. The atmosphere among the students was incredible; there was so much cultural richness and desire to learn. Upon arrival, I saw straight away that people tried to speak German between them even though they shared the same native language. Freiburg is a young and joyful city, and the surroundings are absolutely charming. The city offers plenty of sport and cultural activities, a great nightlife and multiple sites where you can be in touch with nature: the Titisee is must-do excursion. I have a very positive memory of my trip: the quick improvement of my German skills in such a short time, all the new friends, the excursions…

I chose Freiburg because a friend of mine recommended it to me and I am totally happy with this choice.
I like it a lot here, I have a lot of friends from different nationalities. The city is very beautiful, there is a lot of things to do! We go bowling, we go to parties and I love to hang out at Seepark, the beautiful park with a little lake not far from our residence.
As I am here since February, I could go skiing in winter and I will enjoy the summer season as well. That´s perfect.
The residence is really good. There is many french speakers, sometimes it is a bit difficult, but I can totally cope with it. The school is beautiful, the teachers in my opinion are very good.
When I came here I didn´t even know how to say "hello" and now I am able to have a conversation! I would absolutely recommend this experience with ALPADIA!

My stay in Freiburg is really good. I really like the courses and the fact that we have different teachers during the week. Also the excursions that the school offers are really interesting! At the beginning it was difficult to get integrated in the class, since most of the students were already here and knew eachother. But then, when the new students come every week it is very easy, we always go talk to them, ask them where they are from and form a new group of friends! There are many French speakers here, so sometimes you are quite tempted to talk in French! Freiburg is a big city for me, since I come from a smaller town. But it´s perfect, there is everything we need and a lot of things to do! My host family is great, we have a good relationship. They are very nice and we do things together such as going for a walk or hiking. I was worried at the beginning that the food wouldn´t be good, but it´s really delicious and there is always a lot to eat!

I chose Freiburg as I wished to stay in a small town close to Switzerland. From Freiburg, it is easy to get backhome if needed. I have also heard that Freiburg is a nice and vivid city. Looking back I can say that I’m happy with my choose. The enrolment went quiet easy. I had a contact person at the agency who knew an answer to all my questions. I received fast answers and we mostly talked over the phone. I like Freiburg and it was what I wished for. The classes are good to get used to the language and to repeat some things. It is great that classes are held in German only – this is how you learn most vocabulary. It is also interesting and challenging to talk to students in German, even if they do have the same mother tongue. It’s a great feeling if it’s working! In the 2 weeks I spent in Freiburg I have learnt a lot. I enjoyed the activities as well. I went to Mundenhof and Heidelberg. It was nice to visit another town. The movie night was also good to make use of German. This afternoon I will also go to the activity “Bouldern”. Living in the host family was a great experience. I wanted to stay in a family with children and no other students which was very good. The family lives in a quiet location, lika a small village. That was nice. I have talked a lot with the family, also with the children. If I do have the time, I would possibly take another trip to Freiburg again.

At the beginning of my stay I was a little bit home sick- it was difficult to get used to so many changes! Luckily I could quickly socialize and made good friends with some students from Ticino, it´s good so we speak in German together. Also in the host family at the beginning everything was new for me, there has been some contrasts, but we could deal with them, we needed some time to get to know each other! Now it´s fantastict! We really get along very well with each other and also with the other students in the house the athmosphere is great! The city of Freiburg is very likable, it´s small but there is everything we need to make the stay very enjoyable, especially the pubs are great! I am very lucky to have a perfect teacher, so that I can benefit as much as I can from my courses. The time went by so fast - I am sad to leave soon, I will really miss all this!

Before coming to Germany I thought it would be very difficult to be able to speak. I was afraid I could not participate enough in the class. It took some efforts, but it was not as difficult as I thought. I have quickly improved a lot. Now I talk without problems and when I can recall all the words that I have learned, I am really happy. I like also to talk to all the other students in German and have fun with them. The activities of the school are good. I wish it could be even more! I liked the Cornfield labyrinth a lot and then of course the visit to Colmar and Strassbourg. But the excursion to Europapark was the best! I feel very comfortable in my host family. It is a different feeling than home, but I like it. Before coming, I was afraid that Germans were too serious and strict, but my host mother is very nice and kind. She cooks very well and really takes care of everything.

What I like the most are the lessons at the school! I enrolled in the PREMIUM course, which also allows me to improve my written skills, thanks to the afternoon lessons. The number of students in my class is limited, which boosts individual learning. The teachers are always ready to give some advice or correct mistakes. My goal was to get the TELC B1 certificate. The Premium 30 lessons course that I’m currently following will be very useful to reach this goal. Since I arrived, I noticed I made progress and that makes me very happy!

On the weekend, the school organizes many activities (like excursions to Europa Park), movie nights or days out in the city that allow us to discover the area and to use the language outside the classroom. Moreover, living in a residence allows us to meet German students, who live on the last floor. Another opportunity to practice the language!

I followed a 12-week intensive course in Freiburg. The experience has been very positive. In addition to my linguistic progress, I loved the positive atmosphere and the attention given to students by teachers and the staff.

We had the possibility to take part in many activities along with the other students and that helped getting to know each other, which is generally a bit complicated. The fact that there aren’t that many Spanish students encourages the language learning. Since the very first day, we only spoke German and little by little we stopped being afraid of speaking.

Freiburg is a very welcoming city for students with an ideal size. The school and the accommodation are very well located and you don’t loose time commuting. For those who wish to enhance their knowledge of German or to start learning it, I highly recommend this destination and this school.

From the very first day of school, the staff welcomes you warmly and they will always keep helping you. The atmosphere at the school is very pleasant and thanks to the mix of nationalities, you get to know lots of different people. This was undoubtedly one of my best experiences. Because I was staying with a host family, I also got a chance to discover the German culture. I highly recommend this option as it enables you to completely immerse yourself in the lifestyle and with the locals. Freiburg is the perfect city for students. You can either walk everywhere or use the public transportation, which is beautiful! And that’s something I am not used to in Bogota.

There is a real campus feel and a lot of things to do whether during the day or at night. During my stay, I also had the opportunity to visit other places such as Heidelberg or Stuttgart, as the transportation means are great.

I loved German so much that I intend to prepare an official exam in order to be able to go to university. It was truly one of the best experiences of my life.

I love the German language and I wish to study in Freiburg (Germany) to become a German teacher. I got to know about ESL because my mother knew of someone who had done a trip with ESL – Language Study Trip. Before arriving in Freiburg, I had already done a trip with ESL in Vancouver and I had been delighted with it. I am very happy with the organization of my language trip and the agency helped me when I encountered problems with my flight.
I improved my pronunciation and I can now clearly differentiate the Swiss German from the "Hochdeutsch" as far as the grammar is concerned. Now I am more comfortable with German and make fewer mistakes. Furthermore, the communication with my host family taught me as much as going to school. My host family was always available for me and integrated me in many of their activities. I would certainly go through ESL for my next language trip!

Freiburg is a university town close to the Black Forest. It boasts traditional architecture charged with history. I thought it was interesting that all of the canals of the town centre are monitored by one single person who is in charge of monitoring the flow of water coming from the mountains. I also thought it was good that plates had been built in the sidewalk in front of the houses of Jewish people who died in concentration camps. The goal of the artist is to get passers-by thinking by giving information about the former inhabitants of these houses. There are a large number of bike parks in Freiburg because it is the main means of transportation in town.

When I arrived in Freiburg, I didn’t speak a single word of German. I was a little scared of the people, the school, the city because I had never been to Germany. But from the first day onwards, everything was great. The teachers at the school are very friendly and attentive and we spoke only German in class. In addition, the school offers various activities and excursions in order to give us an opportunity to learn more about German culture. The other students came from all over the world and made my stay in Freiburg an unforgettable experience. I met people from Switzerland, Turkey, the United States, Spain, France, Russia, Japan, Uruguay and Australia. As mentioned earlier, I was a complete beginner in German. I took part in the standard course. I stayed there for 9 months as a whole and I now have level C1. The learning method of the school allowed me to make rapid progress. The host family was great and we talked everyday. It was a great opportunity to discover German culture in an authentic setting. The city inhabitants are very helpful and there are many indications for non German-speaking people. My stay in Freiburg is drawing to an end. I will miss the school. It was definitely one of the best experiences in my life.
