Why should you study an English course in Australia?

  • You're always near the ocean: Perth, Sydney, Brisbane, Gold Coast, every major city sits on the coast. Beach days aren’t a special weekend trip; it's Tuesday afternoon

  • The wildlife is one-of-a-kind: Kangaroos hop through university campuses, and Kookaburras laugh outside your window at dawn. You'll stop being surprised by week three.

  • Strong teaching, zero pretension: English schools here take academics seriously, but without the suits or corporate jargon. Quality education that doesn't take itself too seriously.

  • Rainforest and nightlife in the same day: Hike through subtropical forest before lunch, hit a rooftop bar by evening. Australian cities give you the chance to do it all.

Learn English in Australia: where the outdoors becomes your new home!

two surfers walking along a serene beach

Australia runs on sunshine, which is a dream when your classes finish in the afternoon! Hit the beach, join a quick volleyball game, study outside, and don’t forget, shoes are (almost) always optional! Outdoor living isn't a daydream here. It's just normal when you have year-round sun.

Imagine starting your day paddleboarding out to the beautiful sunrise of Bondi Beach, and ending it with a fun BBQ with your new international and local friends. That’s good living!

Australians love chatting with strangers; it's just how they are, so you’ll pick up their English in no time. Order barramundi at a harbour restaurant, argue over cricket with locals at the pub, say "arvo" instead of afternoon, or "brekkie" instead of breakfast.

You’re not just living like an Australian, you’re starting to sound like one too, mate.

What does it look like to study English in Australia as a student?

Student life in Australia

Australia attracts students from everywhere - Brazil, Japan, Germany, Korea, France, and more. Your English class becomes an instant international community. Those classmates? They're the ones you'll explore the Great Barrier Reef with on weekends, split petrol costs with on coastal road trips, and debate which country has the best food at 2 am in a late-night diner.

Shy at home? Australia fixes that. The laid-back atmosphere rubs off fast. You'll chat with baristas without thinking about it, talk to strangers on the ferry, and say "yes!" to spontaneous road trips with people you met last week. It just happens here.

Safety and healthcare in Australia

Did you know that Australia is ranked #2 in the worldwide travel safety database? Cities are well-lit, public spaces are monitored, and locals look out for each other. Your school has support systems - emergency contacts, welfare officers who get what it's like studying abroad.

When it comes to healthcare, Australia runs Medicare, but international students need private insurance. When you choose ESL, we’ll help you sort that out. The care's excellent, emergency services are fast, and most cities have 24-hour medical centres for anything non-urgent.

Getting around in Australia

Getting around Australian cities is as easy as if you were born there! Melbourne has trams, Sydney has ferries, and Brisbane has buses connecting everything. Most cities use only one smart card for all transport: tap on, tap off, done.

Want to escape the city? Trains take you to coastal towns or mountains in an hour or two. The system's built for tourists with clear signs and apps with real-time updates. Even if you’ve never used public transport before, you'll figure it out in your first week.

We’ll be with you at every step of your English course abroad

Getting your visa for an English course in Australia

Planning to study for longer than 12 weeks? You'll need a student visa, and while the process can be complicated, our team are on hand to guide you through every step of the way!

Once you enrol in your course, we’ll give you a Confirmation of Enrolment - that's the main document for your visa application.

You'll also need:

If it's approved, you'll get your visa grant notification. Processing times can vary quite a bit, so it's smart to apply before your course starts to avoid the last-minute scramble.

We know. Visas can seem daunting, but we’ve learned that the paperwork is a lot simpler than it seems. We’ve helped thousands of students go through this, so we can answer all of your questions before you even ask them.
